1. Color
One of the most important things to think about when you’re picking out drapes is the color. The color of the drapes is going to be one of the most noticeable things about the window treatment and is going to have a huge effect on the entire look and feel of the room. Coordinate with the wall color in at least one part of the color of the curtain — try to stay within two shades of the wall color since the eye will perceive it as a match. You might also coordinate with accent or complementary colors in the room.
2. Drapery Fabrics
Another important thing to consider when you’re picking out drapes is the fabric that you’re choosing. This can really depend on functionality as much as it does on design. If you’re looking for a set of drapes that will block out light or help insulate a room, think about a thick wool or something similar.
