How to Make the Most of Your Shed

Every homeowner knows the value of having a shed. They’re the perfect place to store outdoor items, seasonal things, and other things you generally don’t want laying around the house. They also make great work spaces for hobbying or gardening (garden sheds are actually the most common type of shed). The thing is, without the right attention corner sheds can become eyesores or an awkward structure that sticks out like a sore thumb. Here are a few quick and easy ideas to get the most out of your shed.

1. Install a Walkway
When you’re making an effort to draw attention to — not away from — a shed, it’s important to highlight it as an actual destination on the property. The best thing you can do to make it more inviting is to add a walkway to it. If you’re not into the concrete sidewalk look or your shed is sort of a ways off in the yard, you might opt for something simple like stepping stones.

2. Add a Pergola
Since a shed should be a destination and can be pretty versatile in the ways you can use the space, there’s no reason not to take full advantage of it by converting it into an outdoor entertainment space. A super easy way to do this is to add a pergola. Pergolas are large open canopies that are open on all four sides. This would be perfect to set just in front of the shed — and it will create interest and draw attention as well.

3. Maximize Space Inside
It’s easy to write corner sheds off as simple storage spaces but there’s no reason it can’t double as a work space or entertainment space. The best way to make the most out of it is to maximize the space inside. Install organizational units and shelves on the walls. It’s important to use as much vertical space as possible. Custom sheds are also easy to make work for your specific needs, since you’ll have a say in the dimensions.
