If you are planning a wedding then there are a lot of things on your plate right now. There’s also so much to do before the big day. Between picking between wedding ballrooms, banquet halls and other beautiful wedding places to knowing what to look for in a dress and flowers, there are so many things that can completely overwhelm you if you aren’t careful. That’s really when brides become the all feared ‘bridezilla.’ Usually, it’s not that they are crazy and controlling (generally speaking,) it’s simply that they have too much on their plate and are afraid that something important is going to fall through the cracks or get forgotten. So, in order to avoid becoming a bridezilla, or to stop being one if you have already gotten to that point, here are some easy tips to make wedding planning go more smoothly.
Makes Lists and Then Make More Lists
Make lists about what lists you need to make. Lists save lives. They help you to remember everything. If you have a list, or write something down every time you think of something, then you won’t have to worry about forgetting something major and important. Giving lists to people will help them to be more organized as they help you out to. Now, about allowing people to help…
Delegate and Let People Help
There’s delegating and then still trying to control everything. Once you delegate something to someone, trust that they are competent enough to do it. Don’t give someone a job that you don’t think they can do. People are going to want to help. Now, if something is important to you, keep that job for yourself. But if you have narrowed the venues down to three different wedding ballrooms and don’t care which one you go with; have a member of the wedding party go check the three out and let them choose the best one. If it really doesn’t matter to you then they will be able to help out in that area.
Don’t Second Guess Your Decisions
You are going to have so many choices to make before the big day comes. Food, flowers, dressing, wedding ballrooms, locations, dates, colors, themes, wedding party, venues, reception, music, entertainment; the list goes on and on. Because there are so many things to decide, the best thing that you can do is not to change your mind. Put some time and thought behind each decision but ultimately, you’ll need to trust your first instincts. If you keep changing your mind with every choice that comes along, you’ll end up overwhelming yourself and getting frustrated and not trusting any of your decisions.
When the Day Comes, Let it Go
The most important part of the whole wedding planning and putting into action, is when that day comes. You want to be able to enjoy it and not be stressed and worried the whole time. The truth is, when you look back at your wedding in years to come, you’re not going to wish you picked the beach over wedding ballrooms or vice versa; you are going to wish you took the time to be present with your new spouse and the family and friends that make to enjoy it and celebrate with you. Once your wedding day arrives, there’s nothing more you can do. If you have properly planned then everything will be fine and nothing important will have been forgotten.
Appoint a Runner
If you really don’t think that you are going to be able to enjoy yourself without stressing or worrying about something, then you should appoint a runner for the day. If you have a wedding planner, then this will be them but if not, it should be a trusted friend that is not apart of the wedding party. They will be in charge of your day so they should be involved in plans from the beginning so that they can catch your ideas and vision for your wedding day. If you think of something during your big day, then you can simply shoot them a text or pass a message along and they will take care of it and you can go on enjoying yourself.
