Bet You Didn’t Know You Had These Condo Furnishing Options for Your Space

Interior design

Do you live in a condo — or do you plan on living in one soon? If so, you may think that you have fewer options when it comes to decorating, but that isn’t the case. Whether you’ve downsized to a smaller living space, or you’ve upgraded to a luxury condominium, you actually have a number of options for furnishing a condo.

Are you trying to determine your condo furnishing options? Make sure to keep these three ideas in mind before you go furniture shopping and decorate.

Find furniture that fits your space.

If you’ve downsized from a full size home to a condominium, then you may feel that your condo furnishing options are fairly limited. While some condos can be fairly sizable, others are smaller than the average newer home (which today is around 2,700 square feet). Properly planning furniture in a room means measuring accurately, so make sure you know the size of the space beforehand. You’ll also need to bring your measuring tape with you when you go to your favorite furniture stores, so you can find appropriately sized furniture. Therefore, if you have a smaller space, make sure not to use overstuffed furniture — this will make the room look smaller. A lack of furniture, on the other hand, can make a room look too big and empty.

Use interior design tricks to make your rooms look larger.

For the most part, many homeowners who transition to living in a condo will see little difference in the size of the rooms, but those who previously lived in larger homes may have to use some design tricks to make their condos seem larger. Some condos, for instance, may have high ceilings yet offer less square footage. Others may have lower ceilings but offer a wider space.

Decorate with a theme in mind.

In order to pull your condo together, you may choose to use a theme in your furniture and accessories. For example, some condo owners love the look of nautical or beach-themed decor, so they carry it throughout their entire home. There are several different ways to work with a theme like this. Using sheer curtains between a bedroom and balcony can give the illusion of stepping inside from the beach, whether you live near one or not. Use other textures like seagrass or driftwood to give the feeling of being on the beach, and add sandy, blue, or green hues to the room, too. No matter which theme you choose, make sure it’s one that you can live with and have an easy time decorating with, too.
